10 Photobooths, 1 wedding, 2 Santas’ Grottos and stuck in Oz
It’s been a while since I’ve had the time to update the Blog. Busy, busy, busy.
After getting stuck in Australia delivering the Photobooth to Nancy and Justin because of the sit in at Bangkok airport, I finally ended up back in the UK 48 hours late. Did I mention that I flew Thai Airways?…
The route back was interesting and a bit of an adventure that included a 24 stopover in Tokyo and a couple of hours in Sydney.
To business and all that has been going on since I came back from my trip to Oz. We covered eight Photobooths, two Santas’ Grottos and shot a wedding last week alone. Things have been manic, to say the least…
Last Tuesday was almost like a day off for me as we covered a function for Sony on the Silver Sturgeon boat on the River Thames. A huge, very luxurious boat that I loaded the gear onto in Wapping and we picked up the passengers at Westminster Pier. It was 4-5 hours of fun after the booth was set up and I had the opportunity to take a bunch of shots of the sites of London from the river. The crowd from Sony took a while along with a couple of drinks to warm up and then we had an hour of total mayhem.
Here is the mayhem…
Thursday we had two Photobooths. One for Rotschild and one for MTV/Vera Wang. The MTV function was the result of the Priory School in Hitchin winning a competition with Vera Wang and the prize was what seemed to be an unlimited budget Christmas party in the school. Capital Radio were there along with MTV videoing away and the whole school hall was turned white. It was superb and the youngsters had a great time along with a shedload of prints. The only downside was that we were 5 feet away from the main speakers in the hall and I think my ears are still ringing…
The Rothschild party was fun and took place in a venue that was right on the River Thames in SE1. The Old Thameside Inn is very close to the site of Clink Prison.
Friday, once again had us working in London. The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington and the Ramada Hotel in Ealing. Uptown Events hosted the party in Kensington. Uptown Events really know how to throw a party and they even had fairground stalls inside along with the PHotobooth, of course! On the way to Kensington I stopped by Harrods and picked up a very new toy that may allow us to turn the Photobooth into a videobooth too. More on this when I have done some research…
Saturday we spent the daylight hours setting up two Santas Grotto camera stations in GlaxoSmithKline at Stockley Park. Wow! The whole conference centre was turned into a huge grotto with full size reindeers, tons and tons of fake snow and by the time the kids turned up on Sunday they were mesmerised. All the kids that went into see one of the Santas received and 8″ x 6″ print in a folder as they left the Grotto handed to them by one of Santa’s elves.
On Saturday night we braved the rain and traffic to cross London to the Royal Naval College in Greenwich where SNP were holding their Christmas party. Once again a stunning venue and a great bunch of people who were determined to have a great time.
Sunday was a very busy day. We spent the day at Gemma and Derek’s wedding at Parklands in Quendon in Essex. Another beautiful venue and Stephen and Nina turned up early evening to set the Photobooth up…
In the meantime, Dominic, Terri and Debbie turned up at Ahir in Finchley for Ella’s Batmitzvah.

Last week was by far our busiest week ever and it was blast! Are we tired? You betcha! It didn’t help that Stephen has Man Flu and of course, I ended up catching it. Fortunately I didn’t get it until yesterday and i’m now croaking my way through the phone calls.
